Opsonisierung ist ein Mechanismus des Immunsystems höherer Lebewesen. Im Rahmen der Opsonisierung wird die Oberfläche von Fremdzellen oder Fremdkörpern, die in den Körper eingedrungen sind, aufgrund ihrer Antigenmuster von Immunglobulinen (Antikörpern) und Faktoren des Komplementsystems bedeckt. Dadurch können die fremden Zellen von endozytierenden Zellen (Phagozyten) des Immunsystems erkannt und vernichtet werden. Die beteiligten Faktoren nennt man Opsonine.

Das wichtigste Opsonin ist C3b, welches sich an den CR1-Rezeptor auf Phagozyten (Monozyten, Makrophagen, neutrophilen Granulozyten und einem Teil der dentritischen Zellen) bindet und dadurch die Phagozytose des markierten Partikels einleitet. Zur Elimination ist somit kein spezifischer Antikörper nötig. Antikörper, die die Fähigkeit zur Opsonierung haben sind zum Beispiel die IgG (Immunglobuline Typ G). Ihr Fc-Teil (der konstante Teil, quasi der Ständer des Y) wirkt als Opsonin.
