Qt Creator ist eine IDE für GNU/Linux, Apple OSX und Windows.

Qt Creator enthält keinen eigenen Compiler; stattdessen wird der GNU Compiler (GNU Compiler Collection) gcc, g++ (bei der Windows-Version der MinGW) zum Erzeugen des ausführbaren Codes benutzt. Es verwendet die aktuellen Qt-Bibliotheken der Version 4.x.

Eigenschaften

Qt Creator ist eine leichtgewichtige Entwicklungsumgebung wodurch sie besonders für Anfänger in der Programmierung bzw. für kleinere Projekte geeignet ist. Der geringe "Bildschirmverbrauch" begünstigt den Einsatz auf Netbooks. Durch die in der Dokumentation enthaltenen Beispiele ist eine Einarbeitung in die Qt-Widgets möglich.

Durch die Verwendung der Qt-Bibliotheken sind die selbst programmierten Projekte lauffähig auf Linux, Mac OS X und auch Windows ohne am Quellcode größere Änderungen vornehmen zu müssen.
