Sabra (Person)

Tzabar, Plural Tzabarim (im Deutschen auch Sabra oder Sabre, hebräisch צבר, wörtlich „Kaktusfeige“), ist die Bezeichnung für im Lande geborene jüdische Israelis. Die Bezeichnung entwickelte sich nach der offiziellen Gründung des Staates Israel am 14. Mai 1948 als Metapher für die Hoffnungen und Erwartungen an die erste Generation von Juden, die nicht durch das Gefühl der Heimatlosigkeit geprägt sein würden. Jitzchak Rabin war der erste Tzabar auf dem Posten des Ministerpräsidenten.
