Leben

Korbinian Strimmer wuchs in Ottobrunn auf. Er ist seit 2007 Professor für Medizinische Statistik und Bioinformatik an der Universität Leipzig. Er studierte Physik an der Universität München und promovierte dort an der Fakultät für Biologie bei Arndt von Haeseler. Nach Aufenthalten an der Universität Cambridge und der Universität Oxford leitete er bis 2006 eine Emmy Noether Nachwuchsgruppe am Institut für Statistik der Universität München.

Wirken

Korbinian Strimmer forscht über biostatistische Methoden für die Bioinformatik und Systembiologie. Er hat mehrere vielzitierte statistische Methoden zur Analyse hochdimensionaler genetischer Daten und von DNA Sequenzen entwickelt.

Auszeichnungen

Korbinian Strimmer ist ein ehemaliger DFG Emmy Noether Fellow (2000-2006).
