The Roches nennt sich eine amerikanische Gesangsgruppe, bestehend aus den Schwestern Maggie (* 26. Oktober 1951 in Detroit), Terre (* 10. April 1953 in New York City) und Suzzy Roche (* in New York City).

Bandgeschichte

Die Schwestern Maggie und Terre traten Ende der 60er-Jahre in New Yorker Clubs mit einer Mischung aus Folk und Doo Wop auf. Erstmals auf Platte waren sie 1973 als Hintergrundsängerinnen auf Paul Simons "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" zu hören. 1976 wurde die jüngste Schwester Suzzy Mitglied der Roches. Ihre bisher bekannteste Platte ist die 1979 erschienene LP "The Roches", die vom King Crimson-Gitarristen Robert Fripp produziert wurde. Fripp spielt auch auf einigen Stücken Gitarre und bringt seine "frippertronics" zum Einsatz. "The Roches" wurde von der New York Times zur besten Platte des Jahres 1979 ernannt.
