Brent und WTI
West Texas Intermediate (auch WTI) ist ein leichtes, süßliches Rohöl aus den USA. Durch seinen u. a. geringen Schwefelgehalt eignet es sich besonders für die Mineralöl-Raffinierung und die Herstellung von Benzin. Der Preis pro Barrel (159 Liter) WTI-Öl entspricht in der Regel dem der leichten Nordseesorte Brent Crude, kann aber geringfügig abweichen. Der Preis für beide Rohölsorten ist jedoch miteinander gekoppelt.
Wie andere Ölpreise so ist auch der Preis von WTI/Brent ein maßgeblicher Anhaltspunkt für die Entwicklung der Benzinpreise und hat einen großen Einfluss auf die Weltwirtschaft.
