Psychrolutes phrictus, auch Blobfisch (Im englisch Blob sculpin) genannt, gehört zu den Dickkopf-Groppen (Psychrolutidae). Die bodenbewohnenden Fische leben in Tiefen von 800 bis 2800 Metern im nördlichen Pazifik von Japan, über die Beringstraße bis nach Kalifornien.

Kopf und Körper der Fische ist von kleinen fadenartigen Auswüchsen bedeckt. Die Rückenflosse hat 8 Hart- und 19 bis 20 Weichstrahlen, die Afterflosse 12 bis 14 Weichstrahlen.

Die bis zu 90 Zentimeter langen Tiere ernähren sich von Krebstieren, Weichtieren und Seeigel. Sie werden von Tiefseeanglern gefischt.
