Geografie
Das County liegt im Nordwesten von Wisconsin, grenzt im Nordwesten an Minnesota, getrennt durch den St. Croix River und hat eine Fläche von 2280 Quadratkilometern, wovon 152 Quadratkilometer Wasserfläche sind. Es grenzt an folgende Countys:

Burnett County wurde 1856 aus Teilen des Polk County gebildet. Benannt wurde es nach dem US-amerikanischen Politiker Thomas P. Burnett.

Die Bevölkerungsdichte betrug 7 Personen pro Quadratkilometer. Ethnisch betrachtet setzte sich die Bevölkerung zusammen aus 93,25 Prozent Weißen, 0,36 Prozent Afroamerikanern, 4,45 Prozent amerikanischen Ureinwohnern, 0,24 Prozent Asiaten, 0,07 Prozent Bewohnern aus dem pazifischen Inselraum und 0,21 Prozent aus anderen ethnischen Gruppen; 1,42 Prozent stammten von zwei oder mehr Ethnien ab. 0,77 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren spanischer oder lateinamerikanischer Abstammung, die verschiedenen der genannten Gruppen angehörten.
Von den 6.613 Haushalten hatten 25,1 Prozent Kinder unter 18 Jahren, die mit ihnen zusammen lebten. 56,2 Prozent davon waren verheiratete, zusammenlebende Paare, 7,5 Prozent waren allein erziehende Mütter. 31,9 Prozent waren keine Familien. 26,9 Prozent waren Singlehaushalte und in 12,2 Prozent lebten Menschen mit 65 Jahren oder älter. Die durchschnittliche Haushaltsgröße betrug 2,33 und die durchschnittliche Familiengröße lag bei 2,80 Personen.
22,1 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren unter 18 Jahre alt, 6,0 Prozent zwischen 18 und 24, 23,2 Prozent zwischen 25 und 44, 28,4 Prozent zwischen 45 und 64, und 20,3 Prozent waren 65 Jahre oder älter. Das Durchschnittsalter betrug 44 Jahre. Auf 100 weibliche kamen statistisch 101,5 männliche Personen. [4]
