Die Aerion Corporation ist ein US-amerikanisches Unternehmen, das den Aerion SBJ entwickelt, mit Sitz am Flughafen Reno-Tahoe International (ICAO-Code: KRNO) in Reno, Nevada.

Geschichte

Die Aerion Corporation wurde im Jahr 2002 als ASSET (Affordable SuperSonic Executive Transport) Corporation von Dr. Richard Tray gegründet, der selbst einen zehnsitzigen Überschalljet bauen wollte.[1] Im Jahr 2004 wurde das Unternehmen vom texanischen Milliardär Robert M. Bass[2] übernommen und in Aerion Corporation umbenannt.

Der Unternehmensname Aerion geht zurück auf Areion, ein Wunderpferd in der griechischen Mythologie.

Produkte

Das Unternehmen arbeitet derzeit an einem Konzept für ein Überschallfugzeug, Aerion SBJ. Der Markt wird von der Aerion Corporation auf 300 Jets geschätzt.[3] Die Zulassung der Aerion SBJ wird für das Jahr 2015 erwartet.
