European Nations Cup 2001

Die Saison 2001 des European Nations Cup (ENC) war die zweite Saison in dieser Form. Im Gegensatz zu 2000 wurde in der Division 1 die Mannschaft aus Marokko durch Russland ersetzt.

Ursprünglich war geplant, den European Nations Cup auf einer jährlichen Basis wie das Six-Nations-Turnier weiterzuführen, jedoch wurde nach der Saison 2001 entschieden, einen Zwei-Jahres-Rhythmus mit Hin- und Rückspielen einzuschlagen, und die Spiele der eben gespielten Saison in die folgende Saison 2001/2002 mitzunehmen. Dennoch wurde die Saison 2001 offiziell gewertet und Georgien der Titel anerkannt.

Reglement

Das verwendete Punktesystem war in allen Divisionen wie folgt:

  • 3 Punkte bei einem Sieg
  • 2 Punkte bei einem Unentschieden
  • 1 Punkte bei einer Niederlage
  • 0 Punkte bei Forfaitniederlage

Bei Gleichstand gaben die Direktbegegnung den Ausschlag.
