Dikembe Mutombo ist neben Ben Wallace der einzige Spieler mit vier Auszeichnungen als „Defensive Player of the Year“

Der NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award (DPoY) wird seit 1983 an der besten Verteidiger der US-Basketball-Liga National Basketball Association vergeben. Die Jury besteht dabei aus etwa 120 Journalisten (den gleichen, die auch den Most Valuable Player wählen), die jeweils eine Erst-, Zweit- und Dritt-Stimme haben.
