David Alton, Baron Alton of Liverpool

David Patrick Paul Alton, Baron Alton of Liverpool (* 15. März 1951) ist ein britischer Politiker.

Karriere

Alton war zunächst Mitglied der Liberal Party und MP der Liberal Democrats von 1979 bis 1997. 1979 war er „Baby of the House“. Seit 1997 gehört er dem House of Lords als Life Peer an und sitzt dort als Crossbencher. Im Februar 2009 gab er seine Mitgliedschaft in der paneuropäischen Organisation Libertas bekannt, die den Vertrag von Lissabon ablehnt. Durch die Mitgliedschaft Altons erfüllte Libertas die notwendigen Kriterien, um als europäische politische Partei anerkannt zu werden.
