Enwezor

Okwui Enwezor (* 23. Oktober 1963 in Kabala, Nigeria) ist ein Kurator und Autor.

Okwui Enwezor begann 1983 nach seinem Umzug nach New York ein Studium der Politikwissenschaft am New Jersey City State College. 1994 gründete er mit Salah Hassan an der Cornell University das halbjährlich erscheinende Magazin NKA: Journal of Contemporary African Art und kuratierte zahlreiche Ausstellungen für Gegenwartskunst. 1996-97 war Enwezor Kurator der zweiten Johannesburg Biennale, 1998-2002 künstlerischer Leiter der Documenta11 in Kassel sowie 2006 Kurator der Biennale für zeitgenössische Kunst in Sevilla.

Derzeit ist Okwui Enwezor Dekan und Vizepräsident des San Francisco Art Institute.
