Lost and Found ist eine christliche Rockband aus den Vereinigten Staaten. Sie kommen ursprünglich aus Niagara Falls, New York, obwohl sie an vielen Orten in den USA lebten. Die Gruppe tritt nicht ausdrücklich als christliche Band in Erscheinung, obwohl sie nach ihren Liedtexten und ihren Auftritten eindeutig eine solche ist.

Den Stil ihrer Musik nennen sie selbst Speedwood. Dieses Kunstwort ist ihre eigene Erfindung, mit der sie auf den Begriff Hardrock anspielen. Die Band besteht aus zwei Mitgliedern: Michael D. Bridges spielt Gitarre und George R. Baum spielt Piano, Recorder, Drums und manchmal die slinky. Bridges und Baum sind außerdem die Eigentümer ihrer eigenen Plattenfirma, der Limb Records.

Einer ihrer populärsten Songs ist Lions. Mit ihm gewannen sie den John Lennon Song Writing Contest. Andere beliebte Songs sind Multiply, Baby, Opener und Slide Girl.

Lost and Found spielen seit 1986. Ihre erste große Tour unternahmen sie quer durch das Land per Fahrrad und ohne Unterstützungsfahrzeuge. Sie fuhren über 8.000 Meilen und traten auf über 300 Stationen wie Schulen, Camps und Kirchen auf. Sie sind besonders innerhalb der protestantischen Kirche aber auch in anderen christlichen Jugendorganisationen bekannt. Alle ihre Songs sind registriert unter CCLI.

Musikalische Einordnung

Es ist schwierig, Speedwood in eine musikalische Kategorie einzuordnen. Die Band selbst beschreibt sich als eine Mischung aus John Denver und The Ramones. Dies sei eine relativ öde Schnittmenge, und Lost and Found seien wirklich die einzige Band dieser Mischung.

Aufführungen

Viele Fans mögen die Band nicht in aller erster Linie wegen ihrer Musik. Es wurde oft gesagt, dass man erst ein Live-Konzert mit seinen vielen Interaktionen erleben müsse, um die Musik wirklich zu verstehen. Baum und Bridges sind bekannt für ihre Bühnengags, mit denen sie beim Publikum ein Gefühl der Verbindung erreichen, das manchmal noch Jahre anhält.

Oft spielen sie an der Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

Lost and Found nahmen über 250 Konzerte auf und publizierten sie auf CD. Leider konnte dies aus Zeitgründen nicht fortgesetzt werden, aber die die aufgenommenen Konzerte sind immer noch auf CD erhältlich.
