Mangalla ist eine kleine Stadt im Süden Sudans im Bundesstaat al-Istiwa'iyya al-wusta.

Lage

Die Stadt liegt rund 1.200 km südlich von Khartum und rund 29 km nordöstlich von Dschuba.

Bevölkerung

Aufgrund der unruhigen Lage in der Region gibt es keine genauen Zahlen über die aktuelle Bevölkerung von Mangalla.

Geschichte

Mangalla lag im umkämpften Gebiet des Sezessionskrieg in Südsudan.

Wirtschaft

Aufgrund des Sezessionskrieges sind Infrastruktur, Handel und Gewerbe nur sehr schwach entwickelt. Aber im Zuge des Friedensabkommens zwischen der Regierung in Khartum und der Sudanesische Volksbefreiungsarmee (SPLA) gibt es erste Anzeichen eines kleinen wirtschaftlichen Aufschwungs.
