Die National-Bank AG (eigene Schreibweise NATIONAL-BANK) ist ein Kreditinstitut mit Sitz in Essen, die das Geschäft mit Kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU) und vermögenden Privatkunden betreibt.

Sie beschäftigt rund 800 Mitarbeiter und betreut rund 100.000 Kunden an 24 Standorten im Rhein-Ruhr-Raum. Eigentümer der Bank sind 3.500 Aktionäre, größter Anteilseigner ist die Versicherungsgruppe Signal Iduna mit ca. 26 Prozent.

Geschichte

Sitz der Nationalbank

Die National-Bank wurde 1921 in Berlin gegründet. Bereits 1922 verlegte sie ihren Firmensitz nach Essen. Seitdem ist sie dem Wirtschaftsraum Rhein-Ruhr besonders verhaftet. Mit der Übernahme der Duisburger Bankverein AG im Jahre 1942 und der Oberhausener Bank AG im Jahre 1957 expandierte das Institut zwei Mal durch Zukäufe.
