Die Vietnamesische Volksarmee (VVA) entstand nach dem Ende des Vietnamkrieges im Jahre 1975 aus der siegreichen Nordvietnamesischen Volksarmee (NVA).

Sie ist an russischer Technik orientiert. Das Standardgewehr ist immer noch die berühmte AK-47. Die Volksarmee ist nicht mit den Vietcong oder Việt Minh identisch. Sie ist heute die Armee von Vietnam.

Geschichte

Der Vorgänger der Vietnamesischen Volksarmee war die „Bewaffnete Propagandaeinheit“ des Kommunistenführers Ho Chi Minh, die seit Dezember 1944 die französische Kolonialmacht in Vietnam bekämpfte.
