OpenCVS ist eine freie Implementierung des Concurrent Versions System, das eines der populärsten Open-Source-Software Versionierungssysteme ist.

Es kann als Client oder Server für Softwarequellen benutzt werden, eine fein granulierte Zugriffsteuerung wird mitgeliefert. OpenCVS versucht so kompatibel wie möglich mit anderen CVS-Implementierungen zu sein, ausgenommen, wenn bestimmte Eigenschaften die Sicherheit des Systems verringern.

OpenCVS wird als Teil des OpenBSD-Projektes hauptsächlich von Jean-François Brousseau, Joris Vink und anderen entwickelt. Der Grund für sein Entstehen ist, dass die Entwicklung von CVS stagnierte und viele Sicherheitsprobleme aufgetreten waren.

OpenCVS wird demnächst offiziell veröffentlicht.
