Einordnung PLCM als Teil des PLM-Prozesses [1]

Product Lifecycle Cost Management (PLCM) oder auch Product Lifecycle Costing (PLC) ist Bestandteil des Product Lifecycle Management-Prozesses und umfasst alle Instrumente und IT-Komponenten zur Unterstützung des Kostenmanagements im Produktlebenszyklus. PLCM ist ein wesentlicher Erfolgsfaktor für die Konzeption und Realisierung von kostenoptimalen und kundenanforderungsgerechten Produkten und Lösungen. PLCM ist ein interdisziplinärer Ansatz, der die Integration und Kombination von Know-how und Erfahrung aus den Bereichen Controlling, Produktmanagement, Ingenieurwissenschaften sowie Informationstechnologie erfordert, um Potenziale zur Kostenoptimierung zu realisieren. Motivation

70 % der Selbstkosten werden bereits in den frühen Phasen der Produktentwicklung festgelegt. Dabei verursachen die eigentliche Entwicklung und Konstruktion nur ca. 6 % dieser Kosten. Auf die gesamten Lebenszykluskosten bezogen steigt der Anteil der frühen Kostenfestlegung auf bis zu 80 % [3]. Die Beeinflussung der Kosten kann mit dem Produktionsbeginn nur gering beeinflusst werden. Eine frühzeitige Kostengestaltung ist demnach ein Erfolgsfaktor für Unternehmen und gibt Hinweise darauf, weshalb das PLCM zunehmend an Bedeutung gewinnt.
