Der Flughafen Pôle Caraïbes (IATA-Code PTP / ICAO-Code TFFR) ist der Hauptflughafen der Insel Guadeloupe, da er als einziger Platz die Kapazität für mehrere Großraumflugzeuge aufweist. Anfangs war der Flughafen noch als Le Raizet bekannt, benannt nach dem Stadtteil, in dem sich das alte Terminal befand. Die Umbenennung erfolgte nach der Fertigstellung des neuen Terminals auf der Nordseite des Platzes.
Der Flughafen befindet sich auf der Insel Grande-Terre, nur 5 Kilometer von Pointe-à-Pitre entfernt.
Geschichte
1965 wurde der damals noch Le Raizet genannte Flughafen eröffnet. Das Terminal befand sich auf der Südseite. 1970 begann mit der Landung der ersten Boeing 747 die Zeit des Tourismus auf der Insel. Um den immer größeren Passagierzahlen gerecht zu werden, wurde in den 90er-Jahren ein neues Terminal im Nordteil errichtet, welches 1996 eröffnet wurde. In jenem Terminal im Norden werden mittlerweile alle Flüge abgefertigt. Ebenfalls wurde ein kleines Frachtzentrum errichtet. 2006 besuchte der Airbus A380 auf einem Testflug unter anderem den Flughafen von Guadeloupe.
Infrastruktur
Die Startbahn des Flughafens ist mit 3,5 Kilometern Länge in der Lage, alle Großraumflugzeuge aufzunehmen. Das Terminal ist für 4 Millionen Passagier im Jahr ausgelegt. Ebenso gibt es zwei Flugvereine:

- Aéroclub de l'Aviation Civile et de Guadeloupe
