Der Privacy Commissioner of Canada (frz.: Commissaire à la protection de la vie privée du Canada) ist die nationale kanadische Datenschutzbehörde.

Er ist unabhängig von der Regierung und unterrichtet direkt das Abgeordnetenhaus und den Senat. Der Amtssitz ist Ottawa. Neben der Person des Privacy Commissioner hat die Behörde zwei Assistenten.

Aufgabe des Privacy Commissioner ist die Wahrung der Persönlichkeitsrechte der kanadischen Bürger. Dazu geht er Beschwerden nach, veröffentlicht Informationen über Datenschutzpraktiken und betreibt Öffentlichkeitsarbeit.

Amtierende Datenschutzbeauftragte ist seit dem 1. Dezember 2003 Jennifer Stoddart als Nachfolgerin von George Radwanski; ihre Amtszeit beträgt sieben Jahre. Die derzeitigen Assistenten sind Heather Black und Raymond D'Aoust. Seit Februar 2004 gehört zur Datenschutzbehörde auch ein externes Beratergremium.

Der Privacy Commissioner of Canada ist Mitglied der Internationalen Konferenz der Beauftragten für den Datenschutz und den Schutz der Privatsphäre und wird dort vertreten durch Jennifer Stoddart.
