Project Management Office (PMO)
Ein PMO übernimmt die Aufgabe des organisationsweiten Projektmanagements und damit der ganzheitlichen Betrachtung der Projektlandschaft. Dabei sind die Art und Arbeit des PMO abhängig von der jeweiligen Organisation(seinheit) und deren Reifegrad in Bezug auf Projektmanagement.
Die Arbeiten können reichen von eher unterstützenden und administrativen Tätigkeiten im organisatorischen Bereich wie Dokumentation, Protokollierung, Erstellung von Statistiken, Reporting bis zu strategischen Aufgaben wie Projektportfoliomanagement, Auswahl strategischer Projekte, organisationsweite Auswahl und Implementierung von Projektmangementmethoden.
Ein wichtiger Aspekt ist die projektübergreifende Koordination, um eine effiziente und effektive Projektdurchführung zu gewährleisten.
