Public Interest Registry

Public Interest Registry (PIR) ist die für die allgemeine Top Level Domain (gTLD) .org zuständige Registry. Die Registry hat die Domainverwaltung am 1. Januar 2003 von VeriSign übernommen.[1]. Bei diesem Wechsel wurde die Verantwortung über 2,6 Millionen Domains übertragen. [2]

PIR wurde 2002 von der Internet Society gegründet.
