Der Queen-Elizabeth-Nationalpark liegt im Süden Ugandas am Lake Edward und Lake George. Bekannt ist die "Mweya Lodge" auf der Mweya-Halbinsel am "Kazinga Kanal". Dort lassen sich vor allem Flusspferde und Pelikane, aber auch verschiedene Eisvögel, Schreiseeadler, Goliathreiher, Defassa-Wasserböcke, Uganda-Kobs, Afrikanische Büffel, Elefanten, Löwen und Zebramangusten beobachten.

Die Pflanzen- und Tiergesellschaften umfassen die Lebensbereiche der offenen Savanne mit Akazien und Kandelaber-Wolfsmilch, des Regenwaldes, dichter Papyrus-Sümpfe, von Krater-Landschaften und -Seen, sowie den Feuchtgebieten und Gewässern des Eduardsees. Deshalb ist im Park eine besonders große Artenvielfalt festzustellen. Über 100 Säugetierarten und über 600 verschiedene Vogelarten untermauern dies. Im Maramagambo-Wald finden sich auch verschiedene Affenarten und Riesenwaldschweine, im Süden des Parks, im "Ishasha-Gebiet", kann man Kronenkraniche, die Wappenvögel Ugandas, und Topis beobachten. Dort haben Löwen die Angewohnheit, auf Bäume zu klettern. Interessant ist auch die "Crater Area", dort herrscht Grasland vor. Die Kraterseen und Salzseen erscheinen aus der Ferne wegen der hohen Flamingo-Bestände mitunter rosarot.
