Aviation Development Company oder ADC Airlines war eine nigerianische Fluggesellschaft aus Calabar in Nigeria, die nationale Linien- und regionale Charterflüge durchführte. Der Heimatflughafen war der Lagos.
Geschichte
Die Airline wurde 1984 gegründet, begann aber erst im Januar 1991 mit Charterflügen. Ab 1992 führte sie auch Linienflüge durch.
Infolge des Absturzes am 29. Oktober 2006 wurde ihr die Betriebslizenz entzogen.
Flotte
ADC Airlines hat eine Flotte von verschiedenen Boeing-Mustern betrieben.
Unfälle
- Am 7. November 1996 stürzte eine Boeing 727-200 auf dem Weg von Port Harcourt nach Lagos ab. Alle 142 Passagiere kamen ums Leben.
- Am 29. Oktober 2006 stürzte eine mit 104 Passagieren besetzte Boeing 737-200 der Fluggesellschaft in der Nähe des Flughafens der nigerianischen Hauptstadt Abuja ab. Dabei sind 97 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Sieben Personen überlebten das Unglück[1]. An Bord befanden sich auch Politiker und geistliche Führer des Landes wie z. B. Mohammadu Maccido. Ursache für das Unglück soll schlechtes Wetter gewesen sein, bei dem die Piloten trotz vorheriger Warnungen gestartet sind.
