Scholium

Scholien (Singular Scholium) oder griechisch/lateinisch scholia (von griechisch σχόλιον „Schulstückchen“, latinisiert scholium) sind erläuternde Notizen in antiken oder mittelalterlichen Handschriften, welche die Abschreiber (Kopisten) der Texte zum besseren Verständnis an den Rand der Texte oder zwischen die Zeilen eintrugen.

Bekannt sind u.a. die Erläuterungen zu Homers Ilias oder zu den Phainomena (Himmelserscheinungen) des Dichters Aratos von Soloi.
