Die B 196 ist eine Bundesstraße in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern beginnend in der Nähe von Bergen auf Rügen an der B 96 und endet in Göhren. Die B 196 hat eine Gesamtlänge von ca. 25 km.

Nach 8 km zweigte bis Ende der 1990er Jahre die rund 6 km lange B 196a ab, die nordostwärts bis zum Ort Prora führte. Diese wurde aber mittlerweile zur Landesstraße 29 zurückgestuft.

Anekdoten

Der vogtländische CDU-Bundestagsabgeordnete Robert Hochbaum sorgte 2003 für Schlagzeilen, weil er sich für eine Ortsumgehung der B 196 aussprach.
