S Club 7 war eine britische Popband.

Die Band

Die Band S Club 7 wurde 1998 gegründet und Simon Fuller, der zuvor den Spice Girls zu ihrem Erfolg verholfen hatte, wurde ihr Manager.

Tina Barrett (* 1976), Paul Cattermole (* 1977), Hannah Spearritt (* 1981), Jon Lee (* 1982), Bradley McIntosh (* 1981), Jo O'Meara (* 1979) und Rachel Stevens (* 1978) bildeten die Band, die nicht nur sang und tanzte, sondern auch ihre eigene Fernsehserie hatte. Inhalt der Serie ist der Versuch der sieben jungen Briten, mit ihrer Musik in den USA Erfolg zu haben.

Kaum ein Jahr nach der Gründung der Gruppe wurde die erste Staffel der Serie S Club 7 in Miami und das Debütalbum S Club veröffentlicht. Im Jahr 2000 folgten die zweite Staffel S Club 7 in L.A. und das Album 7. Im Frühjahr 2001 ging S Club 7 erstmals auf Tournee. Kurz darauf folgten das Album Sunshine und die dritte Staffel Hollywood 7.

Im März 2002 gab Paul Cattermole bekannt, dass er S Club 7 verlassen würde, um in der Rockband Skua spielen zu können. Am 3. Juni 2002 gaben sie ihr letztes Konzert zu siebt beim Goldenen Kronjubiläum von Elizabeth II. in London. Ihr nächstes Album Seeing Double, das viel tanzbarer und reifer war, veröffentlichten die übrigen sechs unter dem Namen S Club. Die vierte Staffel Viva S Club folgte und im Frühjahr 2003 erschien der erste Kinofilm Seeing Double. S Club ging zum dritten Mal auf Tour und gab Ende April 2003 ihre offizielle Trennung bekannt. Im Mai 2003 wurde die Doppelsingle Say Goodbye/Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You veröffentlicht. Angeregt durch die Comebacks von Take That und den Spice Girls will die Gruppe nun im nächsten Jahr in ursprünglicher Formation zurückkehren.

Die Solokarrieren

Rachel Stevens arbeitet an ihrer Solokarriere und brachte innerhalb von drei Jahren zwei Alben (Funky Dory und Come And Get It) heraus. Im November 2004 nahm sie Do They Know It's Christmas? mit Band Aid 20 auf.

Jo O'Meara veröffentlichte im Herbst 2005 ihr erstes Album Relentless. Nachdem sie Mitte 2006 ihre Karriere beendet hat, ist sie am 3. Januar 2007 ins Celebrity Big Brother Haus eingezogen.

Jon Lee wirkte bei verschiedenen Musicals wie Les misèrables, Love Shack und Notes from New York mit.

Hannah Spearritt ergatterte Rollen als Schauspielerin in Chuckys Baby und Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London mit Frankie Muniz. Außerdem spielt sie eine der Hauptrollen in der TV-Serie Primeval, die in Deutschland seit Juni 2007 auf Pro7 zu sehen ist.

Paul Cattermoles Rockband benannte sich in Charlie Bullitt um.

Bradley McIntosh ist seit kurzem Mitglied in der britischen Boyband UPPER STREET, in der 5 Ex-Boyband/Popband Mitglieder eine neue Band formen. Mit dabei sind: Danny Wood von New Kids On The Block, Dane Bowers von Another Level, Jimmy Constable von 911, Lee Latchford-Evans von Steps und Bradly.

Tina Barrett hält sich weiter im Hintergrund.
