Smart Lighting bezeichnet ein drahtloses Netzwerksystem mittels lichtemittierender Dioden oder LED-Technologie. Diese soll nach Meinung der Entwickler deutlich schneller, billiger und vor allem wesentlich sicherer sein als die bislang verwendeten drahtlosen Netzwerktechnologien.
Geschichte
Die Grundlagen und ersten Schritte des Smart Lighting, wurden von Wissenschaftlern an der Boston University College of Engineering, dem Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute und der University of New Mexico im Jahre 2008 gelegt. Hierzu wurden der Öffentlichkeit erste Prototypen vorgestellt.[1]
