Still video camera

Eine Still-Video-Kamera ist ein Typ elektronischer Kameras, die bewegungslose Bilder machen und sie als Einzelbilder in einem Videoformat wie PAL oder NTSC auf eine rotierende Magnetscheibe speichern. Zur Wiedergabe der Bilder wird die Magnetscheibe mit der Bildrate des verwendeten Videosystems gedreht, wodurch das Bild wieder und wieder gelesen und so ein Videostrom erzeugt wird, der über ein herkömmliches Fernsehgerät wiedergegeben werden kann. Die Bilder werden dabei analog gespeichert und wiedergegeben und die Auflösung ist auf die des verwendeten Videosystems begrenzt.

Populär wurden diese Kameras in den späten 1980-ern. Sie können als Vorgänger der digitalen Kameras angesehen werden. Zu den bekanntesten Modellen gehören Sony Mavica, Canons Ion- und Xapshot-Kameras.
