Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd. (jap. 住友金属工業株式会社, Sumitomo Kinzoku Kōgyō kabushiki-gaisha) ist ein japanisches Unternehmen mit Firmensitz in Ōsaka.

Das Unternehmen ist im Bergbau tätig. Die Unternehmensgeschichte reicht bis 1897 zurück.[3]

Das japanische Tochterunternehmen Sumitomo Sitix wurde mit dem Siliciumbereich des Unternehmens Mitsubishi verbunden. Hieraus entstand das japanische Unternehmen SUMCO (Sumitomo Mitsubishi). Sumco ist momentan der zweitgrößte Hersteller von Silicium-Scheiben, Wafern. [4]
