Sweeper ist eine Spielerposition im Fußball.

Nach der originalen Übersetzung ist mit Sweeper die Position des Liberos gemeint. Im englischen Fußball wird der Sweeper aber eigentlich als „Ausputzer“ hinter der Abwehr definiert[1], der keinerlei Aufgaben im Spielaufbau hat.

Im heutigen Fußball wird die Position nur noch selten besetzt.

Sweeper wird im Radiogeschäft auch als Bezeichnung für einen Ramp-Jingle verwendet.

Sweeper Passages sind (teilweise) oberirdische Abwassersysteme zwischen den Häuserblöcken, von welchen aus in unterirdischen Hauptsammlern das Abwasser zu Pumpstationen abgeführt wird.
