Tairua ist eine Ortschaft an der Ostküste der Coromandel Halbinsel auf der Nordinsel von Neuseeland. Die Stadt hat etwa 1.500 Einwohner und liegt ca. 50 km östlich über den State Highway SH 25a von Thames und 150 km östlich von Auckland. Direkt am Pazifik liegend ist Tairua der naheliegende Ort für Attraktionen wie den Hotwater Beach, die Cathedral Cove, Sailors Grave, Cooks Beach und Pauanui.

Tairua entwickelte sich in den letzten Jahren sehr stark zu einem Touristenort. Zahlreiche Campervan- und Zeltplätze, Ferienhäuser und Pensionen wurden errichtet. Der durch den Tairua River gebildete Tairua Harbour bietet hervorragende Möglichkeiten für zahlreiche Jachthäfen.
