Handlung

Die Studentin Sonia Walker macht Schluss mit ihrem Verlobten. Der an derselben Hochschule studierende Jim Travis nimmt sie mit, damit sie ihr Heimatort erreichen kann. Unterwegs geraten sie an einen LKW-Fahrer, den Travis provoziert. Der Student beginnt ein Wettrennen gegen den LKW-Fahrer, weswegen Walker um ihr Leben fürchtet.

Kritiken

Die Redaktion von Rotten Tomatoes schrieb, der Film sei ein Herzklopfen erzeugender Thriller („pulse-pounding thriller“) im Stil von Duell und Breakdown.[1]

Film-Dienst schrieb, der Film sei „in den Stunts, der Kameraarbeit und der Montage durchaus aufwendig gestaltet“, aber er leide „an seiner Konstruktion und unrealistischen Details“. Er erreiche „bei weitem“ nicht die Qualität von Duell Spielbergs.[2]

Auszeichnungen

Der Film wurde im Jahr 2001 für den Tonschnitt für den Golden Reel Award nominiert.

Der Film wurde in Toronto gedreht.[3] Seine Produktionskosten betrugen schätzungsweise 22 Millionen Kanadische Dollar.[4] Der Film wurde in Deutschland im November 2000 direkt auf Video veröffentlicht.[5]
