Floyd: Es gibt noch Helden (engl. Originaltitel The Feeble Files) ist ein Adventure-Computerspiel des Entwicklers Adventure Soft. Der Spieler kontrolliert nach dem Point-and-Click-Prinzip den Außerirdischen „Floyd“ durch eine satirische, an Science-Fiction-Romane und -Filme angelehnte Welt. Veröffentlicht wurde es 1997 von Bomico.

Geschichte

Floyd, dessen Job es ist, Kornkreise auf fremden Planeten zu erzeugen, kollidiert nach einem Besuch auf der Erde mit einer Erd-Sonde, wodurch sein Raumschiff leicht beschädigt wird und die Sonde in ein Observatorium stürzt. Daraufhin überschlagen sich die Ereignisse, Floyd wird von seinem Arbeitgeber verhört und in ein Gefängnis abtransportiert.

Hintergrund

In der Gesellschaft in der Floyd lebt, ist der so genannte „Konzern“ Arbeitgeber, Regierung, Polizei und Militär zugleich. Oberstes Führungsorgan ist das so genannte „Omnibrain“. Der „Konzern“ unterdrückt seine Bürger bzw. setzt diese unter Drogen. Rebellisches Verhalten wird hart bestraft. Floyd selber bezeichnet den „Konzern“ treffend als Stasi. Das dargestellte System orientiert sich auch an den Romanen „1984“ von George Orwell und „Schöne neue Welt“ von Aldous Huxley .

Maßnahmen zur Kompatibilität mit ScummVM

Um Floyd auf modernen Systemen spielen zu können, bietet sich die Nutzung von ScummVM an. Da dieser allerdings nicht das verwendete Videoformat für die Zwischensequenzen abspielen kann, muss der Anwender selbst die Videos dekodieren und mit Hilfe eines Programms, welches der Entwickler-Version von ScummVM beiliegt, wieder kodieren. Dieser Vorgang kann je nach System über sechs Stunden in Anspruch nehmen.

Alternativ zu ScummVM gibt es beispielsweise die Möglichkeit, ein Windows95 oder Windows98-System mittels einer virtuellen Maschine zu emulieren, in der das Spiel dann problemlos laufen sollte.
