The Moscow Times ist eine englischsprachige Tageszeitung, die seit 1992 in Moskau erscheint. Sie liegt an typischen, von Ausländern häufig besuchten Plätzen wie Hotels, Cafes und Restaurants aus, dort wird sie kostenlos vertrieben. Ein Teil der Auflage wird per Post oder Zusteller an Abonnenten geliefert.

Eigentümer und Personal

Die Zeitung wurde bis 2005 vom Verlag Independent Media herausgegeben. Independent Media ist ein in Russland registriertes Verlagshaus, das auch die russischsprachige Tageszeitung Wedomosti herausgibt sowie die russischen Ausgaben zahlreicher Hochglanzmagazine wie FHM, Men’s Health und Cosmopolitan. Im Jahr 2005 kaufte die finnische Mediengruppe Sanoma Independent Media, seither firmiert sie unter dem Namen Independent Media Sanoma Magazines.[1] Seit Juni 2006 ist Andrew McChesney Chefredakteur der Moscow Times.

Daten

Die Zeitung erscheint im Format A3 in schwarz-weiß und hat einen Umfang von 32 Seiten. Die gedruckte Auflage beträgt 35.000. [2] Seit Februar 2006 können Abonnenten die Moscow Times in Moskau zusammen mit dem International Herald Tribune bestellen.
