Das Jesus-Grab (Englischer Originaltitel The lost Tomb of Jesus) ist ein Dokumentarfilm über die Suche nach dem Grab Jesu. Der Film wurde 2007 erstmals im Fernsehen ausgestrahlt und löste heftige Reaktionen bei Kirchenvertretern und Wissenschaftlern hervor. Regie führte Simcha Jacobovici, Executive Producer war James Cameron.

1980 wurde bei Bauarbeiten im Süden von Jerusalem eine Familiengrabstätte aus der Zeit von 30 v. Chr. bis 70 n. Chr. freigelegt. Diese wurde von israelischen Archäologen untersucht, die Funde sind jedoch von keinem außergewöhnlichen Interesse. Die gefundenen Begräbnisgefäße, so genannte Ossuare (Knochenkästchen), wurden der Antiquitäten-Behörde übergeben, danach wurden die Bauarbeiten fortgesetzt und der Zugang zur Grabstätte ging verloren.

Ein Team begibt stellt nun Nachforschungen an und untersucht die Ossuare erneut. Auf sechs Steingefäßen sind die Namen YESHUAH BAR YOSEF (Jesus, Sohn des Joseph), MARIA, MATIA (Matthias), YOSE (seltene Form von Joseph), MARIAMNE E MARA (griech. Form von Maria, mgl. Übersetzung ist „Maria, die Meisterin“) und YEHUDA BAR YESHUA (Juda, Sohn des Jesus) eingeritzt.

Es wird die These aufgestellt, dass es sich hierbei um das Familiengrab von Jesus handelt. Analysen von Resten aus den Ossuaren scheinen diese These zu stützen. Eine statistische Analyse über die Häufigkeit von Namen zur Zeit Jesu wird als fast sicherer Beweis angesehen. Weiters wird der Schluss gezogen, dass Jesus mit Maria Magdalena verheiratet war und sie ein gemeinsames Kind hatten. Das Team begibt sich auf die Suche nach der Familiengrabstätte in Jerusalem und entdeckt sie schließlich wieder. Durch einen Schacht steigen sie in die Grabstätte und untersuchen sie erneut, müssen aber die Untersuchungen abbrechen, da keine offizielle Genehmigung vorliegt.

Kritik

Kritiker wie Professor Jürgen Zangenberg, ein Experte für das Neue Testament an der Universität Leiden (Niederlande), bezeichnen die dem Film zu Grunde liegende Theorie als unrealistisch. Es gehe nicht um wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse. "Hier geht es um Geld und um Schlagzeilen"[1]
