Them

Them

Them ([ðɛm]) war eine britische Rockband, die im April 1964 im nordirischen Belfast gegründet wurde. Die Gründungsmitglieder waren Van Morrison (Gesang, Mundharmonika), Alan Henderson (Bass), Billy Harrison (Gitarre), Jackie McAuley (Keyboards) und Patrick McAuley (Schlagzeug). Die erste Single, Don't Start Crying Now / One Two Brown Eyes, wurde im August 1964 veröffentlicht.

Als ihre bekanntesten Songs gelten Here Comes the Night, Baby Please Don't Go[1] und Gloria. Ein weiterer Hit war It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue,[2] das im Original von Bob Dylan gesungen wird. In der zweiten Jahreshälfte 1965 gelangen der Gruppe drei kleinere Hits in den USA mit Gloria,[3] Here Comes The Night[4] und Mystic Eyes[5]

1966 löste sich die Band auf, da Morrison eine – bis heute andauernde – Solokarriere verfolgte (Stand 2010). Die Band wurde 1979 ohne ihn neu gegründet, doch wurde sie kurze Zeit später endgültig aufgelöst.
