Tiacoh

Gabriel Tiacoh (* 9. Februar 1963 in Abidjan; † 4. April 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia) war ein Leichtathlet und der einzige Olympische Medaillengewinner der Elfenbeinküste. Bei einer Körpergröße von 1,80 betrug sein Wettkampfgewicht 75 kg.

Gabriel Tiacoh gewann 1984 den 400-Meter-Lauf bei den Afrikameisterschaften. Bei den Olympischen Spielen 1984 wurde er mit neuem Afrikarekord von 44,54 Sekunden Olympiazweiter hinter dem US-Amerikaner Alonzo Babers in 44,27 Sekunden.

1986 konnte Tiacoh den Afrikarekord mit 44,32 Sekunden und 44,30 Sekunden noch zweimal unterbieten und war der Weltjahresbeste auf seiner Strecke. 1989 wurde er noch einmal Afrikameister.

Gabriel Tiacoh starb am 4. April 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia, an Meningitis.
