Time-Stretching ist ein Begriff aus der modernen Audiotechnik und beschreibt das Ändern der Wiedergabegeschwindigkeit von vorhandenem Audiomaterial, ohne dabei die Tonhöhe zu verändern.

Das Gegenteil von Time-Stretching ist Pitch-Shifting.

Pitch-Shifting/Time-Stretching kann nur in gewissen Grenzen 'realistisch' klingen. Werte ab ca. 15% - 20% Abweichung vom Originalmaterial produzieren hörbare Störgeräusche (Grain- oder Verhallungs-Artefakte), welche teilweise als Effekt ausgenutzt werden, aber das Original hörbar verfremden.

Neuere Methoden erlauben mittlerweile eine verbesserte Qualität, die über einen größeren Bereich aufrecht erhalten werden kann.
