Trekkies

Trekkie oder Trekker ist die Bezeichnung für einen Anhänger der Fernsehserie Star Trek. Einige Fans unterscheiden allerdings nach besonders fanatischen Trekkies und gemäßigteren Trekkern.

Viele Trekkies treffen sich regelmäßig bei Stammtischen (TrekDinner), besuchen so genannte Star-Trek-Conventions (in Deutschland z. B. FedCon, Galileo 7 Con) und nehmen an Rollenspielen teil.

Einige Fanclubs engagieren sich für gemeinnützige und soziale Zwecke.

Der Begriff Trekkie ist in das Oxford English Dictionary (ungekürzte Fassung und Online-Ausgabe) eingetragen [1]. Dies hat noch keine andere Fangruppe geschafft.

Filme über Fans

Denise Crosby hat zwei Dokumentation über Star-Trek-Fans gedreht. In Trekkies wurden die (wohl extremsten) amerikanischen Star-Trek-Fans gezeigt. Die europäische Fan-Szene wurde in Trekkies 2 vorgestellt. Außerdem werden Trekkies zuweilen in amerikanischen TV-Serien wie Die Simpsons oder American Dad parodiert. In Galaxy Quest spielen die Trekkies ebenfalls eine wichtige Rolle.
