Die Stadt-Kultur-Auszeichnung UNESCO City of Literature ist eine 2005 neu eingerichtete Ehrung der UNESCO, die innerhalb des neuen Programms "Creative Cities" stattfinden soll. Es ist nicht zu verwechseln mit dem schon länger existierenden Titel "World Book Capital".
Seit 25. Januar 2005 ist Edinburgh offiziell die erste "UNESCO City of Literature". Später wurden Melbourne in Australien und Iowa City in den USA (bekannt durch den den "Writers Workshop") diese Ehrung zuteil.
