Handlung

Der erste Besuch ihres italienischen Großvaters (Giancarlo Giannini) in New York führt ein junges Mädchen (Tina Majorino) unerwartet in ein Abenteuer voller weihnachtlichem Zauber:

Der Mutter beim Einkaufstrubel 'abhanden' gekommen, fühlen sich die Kleine und ihr Großpapa gleichermaßen fremd in der großen Stadt. Auf ihrem langen Weg nach Hause drängt sich ihnen nicht nur alsbald ein toter Weihnachtsmann als Begleiter auf, vielmehr müssen die beiden erfahren, dass Hilfe einem nicht unbedingt dort zuteilwird, wo man sie am ehesten zu erhoffen glaubt.
