Bathos

Das Báthos (griechisches Neutrum βάθος, „Tiefe“) steht im übertragenen Sinne für Niedrigkeit und Gesunkenheit. Der Begriff wird insbesondere in der Literaturwissenschaft verwendet.

In der Literatur ist ein Bathos die Gegenüberstellung eines höheren Wertes mit einem niedrigeren. Er trägt zur freiwilligen oder unfreiwilligen Komik eines Textes oder einer Rede bei.
