Der AFC Rochdale (offiziell: Rochdale Association Football Club) – auch bekannt als The Dale – ist ein englischer Fußball-Club aus Rochdale. Der Verein mit dem Spitznamen The Dale trägt seine Heimspiele im Spotland Stadium aus

Geschichte

Der Verein wurde 1907 gegründet und spielt seit nunmehr 31 Jahren ununterbrochen in der vierthöchsten englischen Spielklasse, der heutigen Football League Two - ein Rekord im englischen Fußball, was der Liga den scherzhaften Beinamen "the Rochdale Division" (Die Rochdale Liga) gab.

1962 erreichte der Verein als bisher einziger aus einer so niedrigen Liga ein Finale des Ligapokals, einer der wichtigsten englischen Pokale. Allerdings unterlag man Norwich City.
