London Borough of Tower Hamlets [ˈtaʊə ˌhæmlɪts] ist ein Stadtbezirk von London. Der Name bezieht sich auf die Weiler (hamlets), die östlich der City of London nahe dem Tower lagen. Diese waren früher verpflichtet, die Wachen (yeomen) des Towers zu stellen.

Tower Hamlets besteht seit der Gründung von Greater London im Jahr 1965 aus den Stadtteilen Bethnal Green, Poplar und Stepney der ehemaligen County of London. In diesem Bezirk befindet sich der größte Teil des ehemaligen Hafengebiets Docklands, inkl. der West India Docks und der Canary Wharf. In Tower Hamlets leben prozentual die meisten Einwanderer aus Indien, Pakistan und Bangladesch.

Offenbach am Main und Mödling sind Partnerstädte von Tower Hamlets. Der Stadtteil Bethnal Green unterhält eine Partnerschaft mit der luxemburgischen Gemeinde Esch-sur-Alzette. Die Bevölkerungszusammensetzung ist wie folgt: 51,4 % Weiße, 36,6 % Südasiaten, 6,5 % Schwarze und 1,8 % Chinesen.

In diesem Bezirk wurden bis auf einen alle Morde begangen, die "Jack the Ripper" zugeschrieben werden. Die Morde wurden nie aufgeklärt und man weiß bis heute nicht, wer "Jack the Ripper" war.
