Die Wellesley-Inseln (engl. Wellesley Islands) sind eine im Golf von Carpentaria vor der Nordküste des australischen Bundesstaates Queensland gelegene Inselgruppe. Sie besteht aus 22 Inseln, von denen die größte, die Mornington Island mit ihrer Stadt Gununa bewohnt ist, sind kleinen Inseln Denham, Forsyth und Bentinck Islands seit kurzem mit einzelnen Siedlungen von Mornington aus wieder bewohnt.[1]

Der Archipel wurde erstmals 1644 vom niederländischen Entdecker Abel Tasman gesichtet, und 1802/03 durch den britischen Seefahrer Matthew Flinders kartographiert. Dieser benannte die Inselgruppe zu Ehren des damaligen Generalgouverneurs von Indien, Richard Colley-Wellesley, 1. Marquess Wellesley.
