Kate Douglas Wiggin (* 28. September 1856 in Philadelphia; † 24. August 1923 in Harrow, Middlesex, England) war eine amerikanische Kinderbuchautorin und Erzieherin.

Kate Douglas Smith Wiggin wurde in Philadelphia geboren, stammte aber aus Wales.[1] Sie eröffnete 1878 den ersten kostenlosen Kindergarten in San Francisco (der „Silver Street Free Kindergarten“). Gemeinsam mit ihrer Schwester errichtete außerdem sie in den 1880er eine Ausbildungsstätte für Kindergartenerzieher. Für eine gewisse Zeit lebte sie in Buxton, Maine, das sie für ihr Buch (und späteres Schauspiel) The Old Peabody Pew inspirierte.

Sie war aber auch als Kinderbuchautorin tätig, das bekannteste war The Birds' Christmas Carol (1887) und Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1903).
