Willie Hoppe

William Frederick Hoppe, besser bekannt als Willie Hoppe, (* 11. Oktober 1887 in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, USA; † 1. Februar 1959) war ein mehrfacher US-amerikanischer Billardweltmeister.

Leben

Willie Hoppe gewann zwischen 1906 und 1952 51mal die Professional Weltmeisterschaften und verfasste in dieser Zeit zwei Bücher über Billard. Seinen ersten Weltmeistertitel errang er 1906 gegen Maurice Vignaux in Paris.

Nach seinem letzten Titelgewinn 1952 beendete er seine Karriere und warb durch Spieldemonstrationen für das Spiel. Er wurde 1966 posthum in die Hall of Fame des Billiard Congress of America aufgenommen.
