X-League

X-League

Die X-League ist eine seit 1971 bestehende japanische Footballliga. Vor der Umbenennung 1987 hieß sie Japan American Football League. Sie besteht aus Divisionen, X1, X2, X3 und X4 zwischen denen die Mannschaften auf- und absteigen können. In diesen Divisionen sind die Mannschaften noch einmal in drei Gruppen unterteilt, East, West und Central. Wie in Deutschland wird in der X-League nach College-Football-Regeln gespielt und ein Viertel dauert 12 anstatt 15 Minuten.

Die Saison besteht aus einer fünfwöchigen Regular Season und einer darauf folgenden zweiwöchigen Meisterschaftsrunde der jerweils drei Bestplatzierten der Divisionen. Die vier Besten darauf ziehen dann in die Play-offs ein.[1] Das Endspiel heißt Japan X Bowl.
